Manly Waters Private Hospital has been providing expert and excellent nursing and rehabilitation care to the Sydney Northern Beaches since 1972. Our rooms over look spectacular Manly Cove, lending a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere to our hospital. Manly Waters Private Hospital is a mere 5 minute drive to the centre of Manly.

Recently refurbished to provide a beautiful new hydrotherapy pool, two well equipped gymnasiums and new luxury suites, Manly Waters aims to return patients to an optimum level of functioning so they can lead independent, rewarding lives. There are private and shared rooms, a dining room and lounge area in which to relax, not to mention the spectacular water views.

Inpatients will be treated a minimum of twice daily with an individualised rehabilitation plan by our Allied Health staff, which include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, Dietitians, Exercise Physiologists, social workers and Speech and Language Therapy (when required). A weekly case conference with our Rehab Physician and the team is held to discuss progress and plan discharge.

Once you have left the hospital, we are happy to offer Day Only Rehabilitation treatments to continue to support you in your journey to achieve your goals. The Day Rehabilitation Program is multidisciplinary and generally comprises two visits each week for a determined period. Sessions are usually fully covered by health insurance or DVA. A doctor’s referral is required.

MWPH also provides a Home Based Physiotherapy service and has a transport service  should you require transport. Please give us a call to discuss this further.

Our Programs

When it comes to rehabilitation, Manly Waters Private Hospital aims to ‘optimize your potential’.  We offer a holistic, personalized rehabilitation plan for every patient.

Manly Waters Private Hospital’s Rehabilitation unit offers programs aimed at maximising wellness for all patients requiring rehabilitation. These programs cater for both in-patients and those requiring outpatient, Day Only Rehabilitation programs.

The Rehabilitation ward has private rooms and ensuites available as well as shared accommodation.
We encourage our patients to be involved in the planning of their care. The patients receive a minimum of twice daily treatment from our experienced physiotherapists and they also see our occupational therapists and social worker regularly. Our Rehab Physician sees the patients regularly throughout the week and holds weekly Case Conferences to discuss progress to ensure that our patients achieve their goals.

Our rehabilitation facilities for both our in patients and our out patients include 2 well-equipped gyms as well as a sparkling hydrotherapy pool heated to 34-35 degrees Celsius. We also have consultation rooms, an Occupational Therapy Assessment kitchen and bathrooms. Our staff are highly skilled, patient-centred, caring professionals, working together to create a ‘home away from home’ ambience for our patients.

Day Rehabilitation programs allow our patients to continue their rehab after they are discharged from the hospital. Sessions run 5 days per week with multiple session types on offer. Please contact your GP for a referral or give us a call on 02 9977 9977 to discuss admission requirements further.

Inpatient Rehabilitation

Following a recent illness, fall or hospitalization, patients will be under the care of our inpatient Rehabilitation Physician, Dr Iain Rodger or Dr Fariborz Jashnany. Your program will be coordinated by our rehabilitation nurses, physiotherapists, exercise physiologist, occupational therapists and allied health team.

A typical day on the rehabilitation ward would involve a session with the physiotherapist in the gym and depending on your medical condition another session with the physiotherapist in the hydrotherapy pool. The patient will be assessed and reviewed by the Rehabilitation Specialist and also by the Occupational Therapist and Social Worker if required. Our Occupational Therapist will arrange a home visit if required to assess any need for modification aids in your home.

Case conferences are held weekly with all the Rehab team to discuss the progress and plan the discharge for our Rehabilitation patient.

Once our patients are discharged from the Inpatient Rehabilitation ward, they may return for Day Only Rehabilitation as assessed by the Rehabilitation Specialist.

Day Only Rehabilitation

Day Only Rehabilitation is a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation program which helps patients regain their strength and independence. The Day Only Rehabilitation Programs are designed for patients who require several rehabilitation therapies. These may include Hydrotherapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Tai Chi, Occupational Therapy and other Allied Health Services.

Patients who are not an inpatient will need a Doctors’ referral.  This referral needs to be accompanied by a medical summary. Once the referral has been received an initial consultation will be set up with our Rehabilitation Specialist   Dr Fariborz Jashnany. An individualised program will then be created by the Allied Health Team.

Day Only Rehabilitation therapy may include some or all of the following:

  • Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology sessions in the gym
  • Physiotherapy sessions in the hydrotherapy pool
  • Occupational Therapy groups – healthy lifestyle, relaxation and stress management
  • Dietitian groups – nutritional information, weight management and healthy eating.
  • Social Worker – if required

Our Day Rehabilitation sessions run from Monday to Friday during the week and we expect to open on Saturday mornings in the future.
