Inpatients are accommodated in a private rooms with ensuites which are staffed by appropriately qualified nurses, with fully equipped therapy areas. Accommodation comprises of private rooms with both ensuites and shared bathrooms. The Rehabilitation unit has its own fully equipped Gymnasium and purpose built, sparkling Hydrotherapy Pool.
Inpatients who are recovering from Orthopaedic or spinal surgery that would benefit from one of our Programs can be referred by their treating doctor to continue their treatment whilst still in hospital in a tailored Rehabilitation program. Our multi-disciplinary team works closely under the direction of the Rehabilitation Specialists to achieve a holistic assessment and integrated treatment regime dedicated to minimising the effect of injury. Inpatients are generally seen twice daily by the physiotherapists and weekly Case Conferences are held with the Allied Health team and the Rehabilitation Specialists to evaluate individual progress and begin Discharge planning.
When discharged from the Rehabilitation unit, the hospital is able to offer ‘Day Only’ Rehabilitation Programs. Intensive rehabilitation therapy programs are able to be offered without overnight hospitalisation. This allows people to attend therapy sessions from home as a day patient for the duration of the program. It can facilitate early discharge from hospital or assist people at home to improve functional stability. Early treatments may be organised in order to allow people to return to work following sessions.
Rehabilitation Programs are tailored to the individual following assessment by the Rehabilitation Specialist. All that is required is a referral from the patient’s doctor.
Each person’s individual needs are taken into account when assessing the potential benefit for undertaking a Rehabilitation Program
Generally patients attend Day Rehabilitation three times each week and work with their therapists to set their own goals and an individual rehabilitation plan is designed. Your rehab plan could include sessions with the physiotherapist in the gym and the hydrotherapy pool or Healthy Lifestyle with the Occupational Therapist. This Day Rehab program enables you to continue to work towards achieving your rehab goals as an outpatient.
